Zephyr is a piece for solo C flute. The piece depicts the wind with various rhythms, dynamics, and ranges. The melody begins slowly in G Dorian, but it becomes more complicated tonally and rhythmically as the piece progresses. Zephyr cycles through a few melodies, but they all depict different aspects of wind. The three main melodies are about a light breeze (m. 1), a more brilliant and constant wind (m. 21), and a storm (m. 37). Dur. 5 min.
