Sonata, Chorale, and Jig is a three-movement trombone quartet that follows the forms/styles in the title. The first and last movements are more fun and dance-like, while the second movement is more somber and mournful. "Sonata" contains a constant bass line that moves the movement forward. Throughout the movement, there are two main melodies that modulate. However, each trombone part has a melody of its own for much of the piece. "Chorale" is a slow, beautiful, and flowing movement that lives up to its name. While the chords and melodies are somewhat simple, this movement shows off the voice-like quality of the trombone. "Jig" is a quick, dance-like movement in 6/8 time. There is one main melody that occurs for much of the movement, but there is another quick melody that acts as a B section. This short movement is meant to get the listener to move! Dur. 5.5 min *time 7:47-13:39
