Deep in the Woods (2025)
Deep in the Woods is a solo piano work for an intermediate player. This piece explores the darkness of a forest and the secrets that it hides. A basic chord progression introduces the piece, and the haunting melody soon joins. Mild syncopation and the C Harmonic Minor collection create the uneasy feeling throughout. As the theme builds, it transitions into a flourish of arpeggios in the parallel major. This joyful section is reminiscent of the classical period. Its major collection is like a burst of sunlight in the dark woods. After the line ascends, there is a sudden shift in the mood. Then, the piece transitions back to the original theme. Finally, a combination of the two themes concludes the work.
